Nature Poetry: 30 days of nature writing practice

Friday 21 March - saturday 19 April, 2025 (NZ time)

Join me for 30 days of this gentle writing practice: sit in nature, see what you notice, write it down. Let’s choose what we give our attention to, and use this writing practice to bring calm into our days.

Each day we will take a few minutes to connect with the natural world around us. As we sit quiet and still, what do we notice? What do we see, hear, sense and feel? In finding words to express the experience, we connect our inner world to the world around us.

Each day I will share some thoughts on nature writing and poetry, and my own writing for that day. I invite you to share your writing too, as well as any reflections on the practice. Your sharing is very welcome, but optional. You get to choose!.

We are not aiming for finished poems, but rather the practice that makes poetry possible—presence, attention and putting our first words on the page.
