Finally, caught on camera

"There's your hawk". My husband was pointing out the window toward the row of cypress trees.

By the time I grab my camera and head outside the hawk is often already gone. Or it sees my clumsy human form lumbering across the garden and flees. Getting a decent shot of the hawk has been on my list forever.

This time I got lucky. Actually, the photos I took from outside weren't great, but when I went upstairs to download them onto my laptop, I looked out my bedroom window and the hawk was back again, hunting a nest at the top of a tree. I took these from the window.

The photos aren't the best quality (taken through less-than-pristinely-clean glass) but I'm delighted to capture the beautiful shapes she makes as she comes into land in the tree. I love those legs and talons. So amazing to see up close.
