Free, with love from me

Last week I felt called to freely offer up some copies of "Lullaby for Mothers". It was like the book was tapping me on the shoulder saying “ahem… remember me?”

Maybe you’d like a copy, or one for your mother, or a friend, or a neighbour. Or one to stick in your nearby ‘little free library’ or leave at a bus stop for someone to find, or drop into someone’s letterbox anonymously.

If you would like one let me know. You can comment below, or email me mary@marywalker.co.nz.

This weekend past I attended a workshop called “M E A N D E R into meaning” by writer and artist Helen Lehndorf. She spoke of her love of the idea of ‘radical reciprocity’ as the way of the future—giving freely, trusting your own needs will be met somehow, some way. As a way to move beyond the transactional ‘x for y’ economy it’s a beguiling, and right-feeling, way to see life.

In the workshop we then played with the idea of creating a manifesto for our art, creative practice or our life. My book had some things to tell me. Yes, that’s right, my book spoke to me (our creative works are living beings, don’t you know?). As well as reminding me “I am alive”, it told me "act on my behalf as you would for a friend" and... “offer me freely”. Which is where last week’s idea came from, no doubt.

SO, HOW DOES THIS WORK?

🌸 The offer is open to anyone—we don’t need to know each other personally!

🌸 There is no end date. Get in touch with me any time.

🌸 There is no limit to the number of copies I am offering (except for when the box is empty!).

🌸 I can post the book to you, or I can post it directly to a person of your choice.

As always, the books come tucked into their own sweet button and string envelope, inside a sweet-smelling, sustainable, non-plastic post bag.

To those of you who have already purchased a book directly from me, or from a bookstore online—I am deeply grateful for your support. I sincerely hope that this offer does not diminish your experience of receiving my book. Indeed, your early support has made this possible. Thank you!

With lots of love (and in happy anticipation of sending out these books)
Mary xx
