Postcard 5: The Shore

You could easily feel landlocked in a valley. Getting up high helps, pushes the horizon out a little further. It loosens the effect of gravity, subverts the pull of the valley floor; lets line out on the kite.

But there’s nothing like going from a valley to the shore to blow the sides out completely. Water abounds. The ocean is sovereign; the land, and we, a subject. Here, we are as small as our mind will let us be.
